Sacchar Formula was introduced in the year 1949.
It was proposed by Bhim Sen Sachar with the help of Giani Kartar Singh.
According to this, Punjabi was taken to be the medium of instruction upto matriculation and there Hindi was taught to be in the last year of primary school.
And in some districts of Punjab the position of Hindi and Punjabi was reversed.
