Flames come and take all the darkness away,
Light shines and makes it own way,
Because this is the festival where truth wins,
We make our way towards a bright future
And with our heads high and up chins,
Take a vow to do all this together,
As we burn the ravana inside us
Which is kept like a false heather!

The evil Ravana surrenders before Lord Rama,
The glorious victory of good over evil,
The day of triumph was of man,
The day when demons bowed heads before humans.
Though Ravana was ten times powerful than Him,
Lord Rama was many times truthful;
And finally, on the day of Dussehra,
Lord Rama's truth and faith beat the cruel.
Twenty days after the beautiful victory,
Was the time to celebrate the festival of lights;
All along the path of lord Rama to Ayodhya,
Diyas were lighted through, and lamps made it bright.
When lord returned to Ayodhya, after fourteen years of exile,
It was decorated as a bride,
With flowers, with lamps,
And fragrance in every side.
And now, when the anniversary
Comes once more,
There is joy in all hearts,
Right till the core.
Diwali, is the festival of lights,
As we say,
Bringing joy in our hearts,
It is the Hindu new year day.
There is excitement to play,
And faith to pray,
It is time to rejoice,
And sing in one voice.
Our faith should be constant,
That it is possible for good to win over the evil,
And whenever Ravana is reborn on Earth,
Incarnation of the Lord is sure to alleviate our pain.
