(a) 3000 ml and 1000 ml

= (3000 ml ÷ 1000)L + (1000 ÷ 1000)L

= 3L + 1L

= 4L

= 4,000 ml

(b) 4000 ml and 2000 ml

= (4000 ml ÷ 1000)L + (2000 ÷ 1000)L

= 4L + 2L

= 6L

= 6,000 ml

(c) 8000 ml and 2000 ml

= (8000 ml ÷ 1000)L + (2000 ÷ 1000)L

= 8L + 2L

= 10L

= 10,000 ml

(d) 5000 ml and 500 ml

= (5000 ml ÷ 1000)L + (500 ÷ 1000)L

= 5L + ½L

= 5½L

= 5,500 ml
