Answer

1) Rulers of Kashmir, Gwalior and Hyderabad helped the British against the revolting rebels of India. The lack of resources was another reason for the failure of the revolt. The sepoys lacked one clear leader; there were several. They also did not have a coherent plan by which the foreigners would be routed.

2) Moderates - Moderates believed in Liberalism and Moderate Politics. They believed that the British rulers were merely unaware of the plight of the Indian masses and that once they were made aware the British authorities would do their utmost to improve the lives of the local populace.

Extremists - The Extremist leaders firmly believed that the British had no interest of the Indian people in mind. It was evident from the lacklustre response from the authorities during a plague or famine.

3) Since 1765, Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa were a single province in British India. East Bengal, because of isolation and poor communication, had been neglected in comparison to west Bengal and Bihar. Thus the partition was promoted for administrative regions.

4) Champaran Movement (1917)  , Kheda Movement (1918), Khilafat Movement (1919), Non-cooperation Movement (1920), Salt Satyagraha Movement – Dandi march (1930), Quit India Movement (1942).

5) They weren't happy about things like economic problems as a result of rules put on them by the British. There was also a lot of tension between Hindus and Muslims. In the years leading up to independence, the idea for the new independent region to be divided into two separate states - India and Pakistan - was born.
