Explanation:

aluminium density is 2.7g/cm³ or 2700kg/m³

where as the wood with highest density is lignum vitae. density=1.23 g/cm³ or 1230kg/m³

all other types of wood have density less than that.( 0.4, 0.5...g/cm³.)

density of Al block and wooden block won't be the same.

No, they can't be same !

But why ?

  • First of all, density is a materialistic property, hence, they don't individually depend on mass or volume alone. They depend on the ratio of mass and volume as a whole.

  • Now, aluminium has density is 2.7 g/cm³, whereas average density of wood is 0.45 g/cm³.

So, if we take same mass of both aluminium and wood, their volume will differ (vary) proportionally and thereby making the density different.

  • It can be better understood because when same mass of wood and aluminium is taken in water, aluminium will sink, but wood will still float.
