1.Studying history enables us to develop better understanding of the world in which we live. Building knowledge and understanding of historical events and trends, especially over the past century, enables us to develop a much greater appreciation for current events today.
2.Coins were issued by the ruler of a country to enable people to buy goods and services. The study of coins often provides us information about the names of kings and queens of the time. Some coins also had battle scenes, faces of kings and queens, or scenes from the life of the ruler engraved on them.
3.Inscriptions are the writings on stone, metal or some materials as an important historical source. These are valuable historical evidence of the existence and activities of early kings and empires. They also provide detailed religious practises.
4.Books and manuscripts dealing with the phenomenon of religion are known as religious literature. The Vedas, the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata, the Gita and the Puranas can be referred to as religious literature. The Jain Angas and the Buddhist Tripitakas are also important literary sources
5.The Indian subcontinent has three main reasons: Himalaya Mountains, southern peninsula and Indo - Gangetic plains. Regional differences and related separate identities greatly fostered by geography, have stood in the way of the rise of durable pan Indian states in Indian history.
