E. Give reasons for the following.
1. Rest and motion are relative terms.
2. Displacement can become zero, but distance cannot.
3. Knowledge of velocity is important.
4. Weight of an object on Jupiter is more than that on the Earth.

1 . Rest and motion are the relative terms because they depend on the observer's frame of reference. So if two different observers are not at rest with respect to each other, then they too get different results when they observe the motion or rest of a body.
2 . displacement can be zero but distantce because displacement has both direction and magnitude while distance has only magnitude. Therefore, as we move from our home to the shop and then back to home, displacement is zero while distance is not zero. The distance can be zero only if the object remains at rest.
3 . knowledge of velocity is important Because they tell us how quickly an object can travel a given distance. How fast you reach some place is very important, and that is what speed and velocity tell us.
4 . Jupiter is a great deal larger in size, its surface gravity is just 2.4 times that of the surface gravity of Earth. This is because Jupiter is mostly made up of gases. If you weigh 100 pounds on Earth, you would weigh 240 pounds on Jupiter (assuming you could find someplace to, well, stand).
