Long-answer type questions :
1. Name the forces acting on a plastic bucket containing water held above ground level in your hand. Discuss why the
forces acting on the bucket do not bring a change in its state of motion.
2. An inflated balloon was pressed against a wall after it has been rubbed with a piece of synthetic cloth. It was found that
the balloon sticks to the wall. What force might be responsible for the attraction between the balloon and the wall?
3. Descnbe a simple experiment to demonstrate the magnetic force.

Explanation:
1) Forces acting on a plastic bucket containing water held above the ground level in our hand are muscular forces and gravitational forces. Both the forces are same in magnitude but in opposite directions and therefore there is no change in state of its motion.
2) The force responsible for the attraction between the balloon and the wall is electrostatic force.
On rubbing the balloon with a piece of synthetic cloth, both the balloon and cloth acquires equal and opposite charges. Opposite charge develops on the wall due to induction and both balloon and wall get attracted to each other when balloon is pressed against the wall.
3)Here is a simple science experiment that you can do at home! Use the scissors and cut up the pipe cleaners into 1 – 2cm strands. Add them to the container and close the lid. Place the magnet somewhere on the container, give the whole thing a light shake and you will find the strands are attracted to the magnet.
