Pteridophytes are first true land plants with xylem and phloem hence it is called  vascular cryptograms,When it is compared to non-vascular plants the following are absent :

1. vascular tissues ( xylem and phloem )

2. Sporophites .

3. Sporangia .

5. Megaspore ( Homosphorous ) or ( Heterosporous )

6. The Multicellular sex organs ( Antheridium - male ) &( Archegonium -female)
