(e) The element in period 3 which does not form
oxide.
( The element of lower nuclear charge out of Be and
Mg.
(g) Which has higher E.A., Fluorine or Neon
(h) Which has maximum metallic character Na, Li or K. name them
Answers
(e) The element in 3rd period which does not form oxide is Argon(Ar). This is because argon is a noble gas and is very stable. Hence, it does not react with oxygen.
(f) The element of lower nuclear is Beryllium(Be). This is because atomic no. of Beryllium is 4 while that if Magnesium is 12. Hence, Be has less number of electrons and is more close to the nucleus.
(g) Fluorine(F) has more electron affinity because it a reactive element while neon is a noble gas and hence is very stable.
(h) Out of the three elements Lithium(Li) will exhibit the maximum metallic character because all these elements belong to the same group and Lithium is the smallest element in the group. We know down the group metallic character decreases. Hence, Lithium which occupies comparatively top position in the group than these elements will show more metallic character.
