Solution :

As per the given data ,

  • Mass of the boy = 46 kg
  • Acceleration due to gravity on earth (g) = 10 m/s²
  • Acceleration due to gravity on moon (g') = g / 6 = 10 / 6 = 1.66 m/s²

(i) Earth

As per the formula ,

⇒ W = mg

⇒ W = 46 x 10

⇒ W = 460 N

The weight of the boy on earth is 460 N .

(ii) Moon

As per the formula ,

⇒ W' = m x g '

⇒ W' = 46 x 1.66

⇒ W' = 73.6 N

The weight of the body on the moon is 73.6 N .
