From the above lines it is clear that Shylock is a mere devil who can do anything for his gains. He cites examples from the holy scriptures to show that intrest is good. He is also like a goodly apple rotten at the heart because he is showing that he is kind to Antonio but from inside he hates Antonio.

After reading the play Merchant of Venice, I felt that Shylock was a cruel and selfish character. He trapped Antonio into signing an evil bond demanding a pound of flesh. He repeatedly refused offers from Bassanio and other merchants to show mercy on Antonio.
