Let the number of boys be (60-x)

Money contributed by each girl =(60-x)

Total money contributed by girls = x(60-x)=60x-x²

Money contributed by each boy=x

Total money contributed by boys = (60-x)x = 60x-x²

2(60x-x²) = 1600

60x-x² = 800

x²-60x+800=0

x²-40x-20x+800 = 0

x(x-40) -20x (x-40) = 0
