Given : figure made up of triangle with sides of 1 unit

n represent the number of triangles and

p represent the perimeter of the figure

To Find : the rule relates n and p.

Solution:

Triangles   Perimeter

n = 1             p = 3

n = 2            p = 5

n = 3             p = 7

n =               p = 1

rule relating n & p

p = 2n + 1

Each additional triangle adds 2 sides as one side is common with already available .

Only 1st triangle is 1 more than 2 .
