Answer:

a) when metals react with water hydrogen gas is evolved

so when sodium is exposed to water hydrogen gas is evolved

b) 4Na + 2H₂O -----> 2Na₂O + 2H₂ + HEAT

c) sodium is a highly reactive metal and it reacts vigorously when exposed to air or water

when freshly cut sodium metal is exposed to air then it reacts violently with 0₂ and forms sodium oxide along with the evolution of heat

also the sodium metal catches fire while reacting with O₂

Chemical equation :-

4Na + O₂ ------> 2Na₂O + HEAT
