Each of the 2 side of an isosceles triangle is twice as large as the third side . If the perimeter of the triangle is 30 cm , find the length of each side of the triangle.​

Given:

  • Perimeter of the triangle = 30 cm
  • Equal sides are twice the third side.

To Find:

  • Length of the sides of the triangle.

Solution:

Let the length of third side = x

and length of each equal sides = 2x

  • The sides of triangle are x, 2x and 2x.

Perimeter of the triangle = Sum of all sides

→ 30 = x + 2x + 2x

→ 30 = (2 + 2 + 1) x

→ 30 = 5x

→ x = 30/5

→ x = 6

Sides of the triangle:

  • x = 6cm
  • 2x = 2(6cm) = 12cm
  • 2x = 2(6cm) = 12cm

Hence,

  • Sides of triangle = 6cm, 12cm, and 12cm.
