As you know that perimeter of triangle is the sum of all sides.

Let us consider the base to  be x.  So

We will add the base and both congruent sides of the triangle.

As mentioned in the question  the congruent sides of triangle are 3 x  (because the congruent side of triangle are three times of the base)

Step 1:  x + 3 x +3 x = 28

Step 2: 7 x = 28

Step 3: x = 28/7

Step 4: x = 4 cm(Because perimeter is given in cm)

Verification :   x = 4;  3 x = 12 . So

4 + 12 + 12 = 28

28 = 28

L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence verified
