each side of a rhombus is 10cm long and one of its diagonal measures 16cm find the length of other diagonal and hence find the area of the rhombus

Here is your answer !!

The sides of the rhombus is = 10 cm .

Now , one of the diagonal is 16 cm .

So , when the two diagonals intersect , four right angled triangles are formed .

Lets take one right angled triangle .

Applying Pythagoras' theorem , we get ,

AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2
=> AB^2 + 8^2 = 10^2
=> AB^2 = 10^2 - 8^2
=> AB^2 = 6^2
=> AB = 6 .

Hence , the length of the other diagonal is ( 2 * 6 ) cm = 12 cm .

Hence , the area of the rhombus is
= 1/2 * 12 * 16 sq. cm
= 96 cm ........... [Answer]

length of the diagonal is 12cm
and area of rhombus is 1÷2×12×16=96
