Answer:

20 Sq. cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Side Of Square = 4 cm

Area Of Square = Side*Side = 4*4 = 16 Sq. cm

Side Of Square Increased By = 25%

Increased Side Of Square = 4*25/100 = 4*1/4= 1 = 4+1 = 5 cm

Increased Area Of Square = Side*Side = 5*5 = 25 Sq. cm

Hope It Will Help You!!!

GIVEN :-

  • Each side of square is 4cm.

TO FIND :-

  • Increase in area when each side of the square is increased by 25%.

APPROACH :-

We will find area of square when side is 4cm. Then we will find area of square when side is increased by 25% . When we will subtract them , we will get increase in area.

SOLUTION :-

Area of square = side²

Area of square when side is 4cm ,

Area(1) = 4²

Area(1) = 16cm² ------------(i)

Now , we know , side is increased by 25%.

New side = 4 + 25% of 4

New side = 4 + 4[25/100]

New side = 4 + [100/100]

New side = 4 + 1

New side = 5cm

Area of square when side is 5cm,

Area(2) = 5²

Area(2) = 25cm² ------------(ii)

______________________

Increase in area

= Area(2) - Area(1)

= 25 - 16

= 9cm²

_______________________

% increase in area

= [ Increase in area / Area(1) ] × 100

= [ 9/16 ] × 100

= 900/16

= 56.25

Hence , area is increased by 56.25% that is 9cm².
