answer: let the side of the cube be l

then the lateral surface area will be = 4l² -----(1)

now the side when doubled = 2l

then the lateral surface area will be = 4 ( 2l )²

= 4 × 4l²

= 4 × lateral surface area of (1) hence the lateral surface area will be 4 times of the actual cube
