Answer:

Much of what early humans inscribed on cave walls were images of themselves capturing or killing animals for food, clothes or protection from the elements. They wanted to show their mastery of the animals and their hunting skills. Perhaps some of the pictures also served as instruction manuals for teaching the next generation how to hunt.

Answer: painting now as in the past is communication of an idea or an event, there might be a certain element of entertainment for some. Income and available resources dictates having to do art to get funds to eat, clothing, transportation and whatever personnel needs the artist has. Art for the sake of art is nice but it is not so wide-spread. Why do art, only the artists knows for themselves, good luck.
