“Earth, our home, is the third planet from the sun. It's the only planet
known to have an atmosphere containing free oxygen, oceans of water on its
surface and life which makes it a unique planet. Water covers roughly 71%
of earth's surface and most of that is in the oceans." Let's know more about
hydrosphere by answering the following questions.
Q1. What is the watery part of the earth called?
Q2. In which hemisphere of the earth, one can find water?
Q3. What are oceans?
Q4. Name few sources of fresh water.
Q5. Mention the three different ways in which the movement of ocean water takes place.
Q6. What is wavelength?
Q7. Define wave height.
Q8. Name two things that are represented by the rise and fall of water in a wave?
09. Mention a difference between high tide and low tide.
Q10. Name three tidal power stations of the world.

Answer:

1-Hydrosphere

2-Water Hemisphere

3-An ocean is the body of water that compose much of a planet's hydrosphere. On Earth, an ocean is one of the major conventional divisions of the World Ocean. These are,in descending order by area, the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Arctic Oceans.

4-The few sources of freshwater are - River, Lakes, Reserveins, creeks and streams.

5-The three ways are waves, current and tides.

6-Wavelength can be defined as the different between two successive crests or thoughts of a wave. It is measured in the direction of the wave. This means the longer the wavelength, lower the frequency....In the same manner, shorter the wavelength, higher will be the frequency.

7-In fluid dynamics, the waveheight of a surface wave is the difference between the elevation of a creast and a neighbouring through.Wave height is a term used by Mariners, as well as incoastal, ocean and naval engineering.

8-Waves are most commonly caused by wind. Wind-driven waves,or surface waves are created by the friction between wind and surface water. As wind blows acroos the surface of the ocean or a lake, the continual disturbance creates a wave crest.

9-When the highest part, or ceast of the wave reaches a particular location, high tide occurs low tide corresponds to the lowest part of the wave, or it's trough. The difference of high tide and low tide is called the tidal range.
