.First thing that earth's gravity is not that "huge", if it would be, it would be impossible to walk or our bodies will not be able to survive and a lot of factors are included. Or we might say, it's just a nature's blessing that the earth's gravity is just normal for us to live. While on other planets of the solar system, like jupiter, having a huge mass; having about 25m/s² much gravity and thus mass is directly related to gravitational force, it's not possible us to walk there neither to live there.
In the case of airplanes, it's quite simple. The birds are given that much force to fly and oppose the gravity as much as the gravity attracts us.
