It states that the right distance of Earth from the sun helps Earth to maintain its heat. Just take a look at Mars. Even if it's the planet right after Earth, it's lifeless. There's no atmosphere or water. Now, think about Venus. It has a really high rate of global warming and there are extreme temperatures. If Earth had been in either of the places, would life exist in it? Never! We're lucky to live in such a habitable planet. We receive rights amounts of heat, light but its our fault that we're messing it up. Hope you understood.
