Answer:

  • Height of the embarkment = 2.5m.

Given:

  • Height of the well is 20m.
  • Diameter of the well is 7m.
  • Length of the embarkment = 22m.
  • Breadth of the embarkment = 14m

To find:

  • Height of the embarkment?

Lets understand:

  • There are two figures here.. The well and the embarkment.
  • Well is a cylinder and embarkment is a cuboid.
  • To find the height of the cylinder we need to find out volume of the cylinder/well , Volume of the cuboid/embarkment.

Formula:

Volume of the cylinder = Volume of the cuboid

Solution:

Volume of the cylinder = πr²h

  • Radius = D/2 = 7/2
  • Pi = 22/7
  • Height = 20

➥ 22/7 × (7/2)² × 20

➥ 22/7 × 12.25 × 20

➥ 22/7 × 245

➥ 770m²

Hence, Volume of the cylinder = 770m².

Volume of the cuboid = l × b × h

  • Length = 22m
  • Breadth = 14m

Volume of the cylinder = Volume of the cuboid

Let the height be h. Let's find out h:

➥ 770 = 22 × 14 × h

➥ 770 = 308 × h

➥ 770h = 308

➥ h =  \bf \dfrac{770}{308}

➥ h = 2.5m.

Therefore, Height of the embarkment = 2.5m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of the Earth dug out=πr^2h=22/7×(3.5)^2×20

=22/7×12.25×20

=22/7×1225/100×20

=770m^3

Area of the embankment=22×14=308m^2

Therefore

Height=770/308

=2.5m

Hope it helps you
