the West coast of California lies at the end of the tectorial plate.

Explanation:

Earthquakes are caused due to the vibration of the tectorial plate and due to two changes in the distribution of the tectorial plate.

As a result of this since California has its waste cost at the end of the tectorial plate hence given the small amount of vibration leads to earthquake in California. Due to this reason the incidents of earthquake is comparatively hire in California.
