The amount of gas adsorbed by a solid depends on the nature of gas. In general easily liquefiable gases (i.e. with higher critical temperature) are readily adsorbed. Thus 1 g of activated charcoal adsorbs more sulfur dioxide (critical temperature 630 K) than methane (critical temperature 190 K).
