The state of Odia, which used to be known as Oriya, is located in the eastern coast of India. It is surrounded by other states such as West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. According to the 2001 Census, over 30 million people in Odia are known to speak the language.
The state of Odisha has a confluence of the various cultures that are known to exist in the region, such as the Aryan, Adivasi, and Dravidian traditions.
