Any digit in a measurement which has some importance and value is called a significant figure.

Rules,

=> All non-zero digits are significant.

=> zero lying between two non-zero digits are also significant.

=> zeroes on the left of first non-zero digit are not significant.

=> If a reading ends with zeroes, the zeroes will be significant if,
1- the reading has decimal
2- the reading has a unit (cm,m)

=] zeroes to the right of a non-zero digit are significant.
