step 1 make the cofficient of x square as 1 by dividing all the terms by the cofficient of x
step2 add n subtract the square cofficient of x/2
step 3 take the first term second term n the square of cofficient with + sign
you may observe that it is now in the form of (a+b)^2
step 4 take the rest term on other side of the=
