Uses. Gymnosperms have major economic uses. Pine, fir, spruce, and cedar are all examples of conifers that are used for lumber, paper production, and resin. Some other common uses for gymnosperms are soap, varnish, nail polish, food, gum, and perfumes.

The economic importance of gymnosperms are :-
*Gymnospermous plants are widely used as ornamentals.
*Many conifers such as pine, cedar, etc., are sources of the soft wood used in construction and packing.
* An anti-cancer drug i.e Taxol is obtained from Taxus.
- Many species of ephedrine, which are used in the treatment of diseases such as asthma and bronchitis.
- Resins are used for manufacturing of sealing waxes and water-proof paints.
