The disturbances and changes caused in the ecosystems by natural or man-made activities are called ecological perturbations.

EXPLANATION:

  • When there are disturbances or sudden changes in any of the ecosystems then such changes or disturbances are called ecological perturbations. These changes can be both natural and anthropogenic.
  • The natural changes that lead to sudden change in ecosystem can be forest fire, in which a large scale of flora and fauna are killed. It may also include extreme weather conditions like extreme cold or extreme hot which can kill animals and plants, it may also be any pest attack.
  • But, all these changes can be recovered if some time is given to them to regenerate. But in anthropogenic or man-made perturbations like large scale deforestation and concretization can cause permanent damage to the ecosystem which cannot be recovered easily even if time is given to them.
