Answer:

1. Yes, it is important to increase the area under irrigation because water is very essential for agriculture. In India, the rainfall is unevenly distributed in the country and if rainfall is less, then production will be low, and farmers will be only able to grow one crop in a season.

2. Multiple cropping corresponds to produce more than 1 crop on a piece of land during 1 year. ... But in the modern farming method, HYV ( high yielding variety) seeds are used for farming with lot of irrigation and chemical fertilizers and pesticides which inturn resulted into high yielding of crops.

3. The working capital required by the farmer using modern farming methods are raw material and money. Money is always required during production to make payments and buy other necessary items.

4.Yes, it is true that modern farming methods require more inputs which are manufactured in industry. For example; (i) HYV seeds, insecticides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers needed for increasing the yield per hectare are all manufactured in industries.

5. Electricity powers all the tube wells in the fields that help to irrigate much larger areas of land more effectively as compared to the traditional Persian wheel drawn by bullocks.

6. here is heavy competition for work among the farm labourers in Palampur, so people agree to work for low wages.

7. Uneven development is the main reason of migration along with factors like poverty, landholding system, fragmentations of land, lack of employment opportunities, large family-size and natural calamities

10.  Positive effects of Overpopulation

Defence: Large Population makes it possible to mobilize enough people to defend the integrity of the country in times of war and any other emergencies.

Increase in Labor Market: Increasing population ensures increase in the labor force. Lack of growth in the labor force will make a country static, retarded and gets to equilibrium at less than full employment level of the economy.

Large Market: Investors would like to invest in a country with a large population. As the population continues to grow so will be the growth in demand for food, shelter, clothing etc.

Negative effects of Overpopulation

Poverty: As a result of overpopulation, the available resources would not be able to do round and this will result to poverty in the country.

Unemployment: Overpopulation leads to unemployment, this is as a result of the number of people looking for job outruns available resources.

Social Problems: Overpopulation brings about social problems such as bribery, prostitution, armed robbery etc.
