An ecosystem maintains the balance of environment in the following way:-
*The producers utilise co2 produced by other organisms and release o2 as a waste material.
*Other organisms utilise o2 and also food produced by producers.
*Decomposers feed on dead and decaying organisms and animal excreta to get nutrition. In the process, they convert the complex organic substances found in these materials into simple organic and inorganic substances.
*These simple organic and inorganic substances are utilised by producers (basically green plants) to get additional nutrients.
In this way, ecosystem helps in maintaining the balance of environment.
