Ectocarpus and Fucus comes in class Phaeophyceae (also known as brown algae)
Due to presence of lamina in both they look like leaf, therfore known as leafy algae also.
Fucus has the economic importance of Alginic Acid or Alginates are obtained from them and used for dentury measurement, polish, manufacturing of soap,etc.

Phaeophyceae - This type of algae Chlorophyll a and c along with fucoxanthin are present. Fucoxanthin imparts brown colour to the algae . And are also known as ‘brown algae’.
