The chemical name for table or edible salt is sodium chloride, with formula  NaCl; it comprise of two  elements namely, sodium and chlorine connected by joint by an ionic bond.

This edible salt is extracted from Deposits at  mines or ocean water need.

It to be purified and then supplemented by adding iodine to make iodized  or table salt.

There are different forms of edible salt such as: Unrefined, refined , table salt or iodised salt.

In nature, it includes not only sodium chloride, but also other important  trace minerals.

Edible rock salts looks slightly greyish in color due to other mineral content.
