India is very fortunate that it has many rivers. The famous rivers are Sutlej, Ganga, Yamuna and Narmada. Some of the rivers like Ganga, which originated from the Himalayas, flows throughout the year. They provide water for both drinking and irrigational purposes. Some rivers in India are considered very sacred and are worshipped.
