Subject: Lack of a proper playground for children
I am a resident of one of the oldest colonies in the Mumbai suburbs. We have around 230 children in our colony. Unfortunately, it sorely lacks in any common recreational areas or parks. Because of this, our children end up playing on the roads of the colony.
We already have had several children getting injured while playing, falling down on the tarred roads. Even more worrisome is that there was a major accident recently, where a nine year old boy was hit by a passing autorikshaw. Even though his life was saved, his leg is very badly broken. Such situations are quite grievous and also, avoidable. I hope that our local authorities soon take up some action, seeing the dire need of our colony. Children deserve to play and it is the responsibility of the authorities to facilitate it.
