The government’s decision to make Mangalore city an economic and commercial hub is quite welcome but the cause will remain defeated unless the roads and infrastructure is improved and repaired. Not only the highways, the interconnecting roads within the city need to be paid attention, as it is really difficult to ply on these roads sans the traffic and the rains. Other states in the south are much ahead as far as roads are concerned, compared to Karnataka. Development or expansion of city will not be possible, as long as the roads are not repaired. Presently roads and ditches even on main roads are an eyesore to the city. The government should concentrate on improving the basic facilities rather than targeting trivial issues.
