Sir,
This is regarding the various maleficient effects that are observed nowadays in children because of the violence and crime that is shown on television. Extensive viewing of television violence by children causes greater aggressiveness. Sometimes, watching a single violent program can increase aggressiveness. Children who view shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see.
Extensive research evidence indicates that media violence can contribute to aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, nightmares, and fear of being harmed. Some studies indicate that viewing aggression activates regions of the brain responsible for regulating emotions, including aggression. Several studies, in fact, have linked viewing violence with an increased risk for aggression, anger, and failing to understand the suffering of others.
It's my kind request that there should be a column regarding this in your newspaper so that everyone gets aware of this problem.
Thank you,
XYZ
