• The peddler was impressed by Edla's kidness and the respect she showed to him.
• He realised his mistake and decided to leave sum of money he has stolen from his father, he also left a christmas present for the family.
• Edla forced him to stay for christmas and the pedlar recieved hospitability he had expected with her.
• She gave him the respect which he has never recieved in his life, she took care of him like she used to of her father's.
• In the end, Elda was also very happy seeing him comfortable and happy at her home although, she had some misgivings about the peddler in the past.
