In democracy power is in hands of people because leaders are elected by voting. There are many candidates in election and people cast their votes to the candidate who they think is better than others and can solve their problems.
Education brings awareness, increases thinking capability. So educated people can caste their votes according to their will without getting influenced by false news etc. This strengthens democracy for sure ,as more deserving candidates will be elected.
People always have a soft corner for the people they know or for the person who belongs to their community/area. So caste system makes people biased. In this condition people caste their votes to the person who is of their caste regardless of his abilities. Political parties take advantage of this and choose their candidates on the basis of caste to impress their vote bank.
