Mahatma Gandhi ji said that Education can wait but Swaraj cannot. Gandhi led Indians in challenging the British and he was imprisoned for many years, upon many occasions.

He lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community; he was the simple person and ate simple vegetarian food, as well as undertook long fasts as a means of both self-purification & political protest.
