Education is the basic right of every man and woman. An illiterate person or in other words a person of ignorance is no less than an animal. Man is differentiated from animals on the basis of his intellect or reasoning while his intellect is lightened up by education.
Unfortunately, in recent days, ignoring the actual purpose of education, it is taken for granted. Whenever and wherever a child is asked about what he wants to become in future after completing his education, answer is a doctor, an engineer, or a pilot etc. We can never expect an answer being that his first or foremost purpose of getting education is to know the real purpose of life, to know what is life and what for?, what is the difference between right and wrong?. Fault does not lie with the child. He is just like a blank sheet that gets imprinted with what we as a society print on it. Faulty is, in fact the general thinking that has become prevalent about the purpose of education.
Spending a specific time span of someone’s early age in educational institutes in the name of acquiring education, being able to achieve a degree at the end, and then making use of that piece of paper for getting job is all that we call, or think the purpose of education. But the justification of education is beyond only getting a job or livelihood with the help of it. Instead, an educated person should know the difference between good or bad, wrong and right or lawful and unlawful. He should know that in life only self-satisfaction, attained by hook or crook, is of no good. We cannot live a luxurious and comforted life on the cost of others grievances. Instead, we shall be held responsible and accountable ,in the life here after, of what we do in this world.
