Photosynthesis itself depicts that it is the chemical reaction carried out in the presence of light to convert it into chemical energy in the presence of raw materials, pigments and enzymes. The raw materials are carbon dioxide and water, the products are glucose and oxygen.

When it comes to light, it is the main source of photons required to carry out photosynthesis and hence during cloudy days the rate of photosynthesis decreases than that of normal and bright sunny days.

As we know the basic raw material for photosynthesis is water, yet the plants generally wilt and wither off before water restricts the photosynthesis at the biochemical level. Yet water is important and when there is no rainfall the rate of photosynthesis decreases.

When it comes to age or good mature leaves, the rate of photosynthesis is low for younger leaves, increases in case of mature leaves and decreases with the increase in age of leaves.
