Effect of nano-iron oxide on growth of cowpea seedlings and relevant antioxidant response.
Answers
Answer:
In order to study the effects of iron oxide nanoparticles on the physiological growth of cowpea seedlings, taken a cowpea as tested objects, the effects of different contents of iron oxide nanoparticles on the production of cowpea seedlings in plant physiological growth, root activity, lipid peroxidation and the activity of antioxide enzyme were studied, Fe2+ treatment was set as a positive control to research the effect of iron oxide nanoparticles on the potential promotion of cowpea seedling growth and its dose dependent, meanwhile cowpea seedlings treated with fluorescent iron oxide nanoparticle were observed by the fluorescent microscope. The result showed that the cowpea seedlings had different responses to iron oxide nanoparticles under various concentrations, the low concentration of iron oxide nanoparticles had some positive effects on cowpea seedlings, and the high concentration of iron oxide nanoparticles and Fe2+ partly inhibited the growth of cowpea seedlings and indicated a certain toxicity to plants. The iron oxide nanoparticle absorbed by the roots of cowpea and then transported to the stem of cowpea which subsequently accumulated to certain contents was found. It is possible that iron oxide nanoparticles are used as iron fertilizer in agricultural industry, but the risk of nanoparticles to the environment, ecology and human health must be studied first.
