Answer:

Yes, there are quite many effects.

Let me enlist them here.

1.Combustion

It is an example of oxidation reaction coupled with reduction reaction.

Example:Burning of many materials such as wood, etc.

It is always accompanied with the evolution of CO2 gas, as well as with the formation of water and a lot of energy is released.

2.Corrosion

It is a very common phenomenon in every household. The metal gets oxidized due to atmospheric oxygen and hence forms metal oxide.

Some examples are, rusting of rims, apple gets brown in colour when kept for some time (as it is rich in iron), etc.

3.Rancidity

Oxidation reactions are also responsible for the spoilage of food items, like fried items, etc.

As a result of which to avoid that there is wide usage of preservatives.

4. Coinage metals

Copper and silver are termed as coinage metals due to their high resistance to corrosion.

But they tarnish due to the formation of copper oxide and silver sulphide.

These are some of the common effects of oxidation.
