here's ur answer.....
The bond story created a tense situation all around. Though Antonio was pretty sure that he would be able to return the sum on time, his friends were quite tensed. Salanio and Salarino keep on wishing that the drowned ship might not be on Antonio. While going to Belmont, Bassanio also thinks about the bond but Antonio says him not to do so.
Therefore the bond story affected all the characters in the Merchant of Venice....
