GEOTHERMAL ENERGY: The energy released in nuclear disintegrations in the interior of earth gets stored deep inside the earth and is called the geothermal energy. this energy heats up the underground water to produce steam. Sometimes, this natural steam may burst out from the surface of earth as hot springs or geysers. The electric power companies may drill wells into the earth to trap this steam so as to run generators.

HYDRO ENERGY: The energy possessed by the fast moving water is called the hydro energy. This energy is used to generate electricity in hydroelectric power stations. For this, water is stored in the dams built across the river high up in the hills and then water is allowed to run down the pipes and the energy of running water is used to drive the turbines of generators to produce the electrical energy.
