Efflorescence,spontaneous loss of water by a hydrated salt which occurs when the aqueous vapour pressure of hydrate is greater than the partial pressure of the water vapour in the air. For ex-  coz of vapour pressures of washing soda and Glauber's salt normally exceed that of water vapor in the atmosphere

these salts efflorescence the aqueous vapor pressure which is lower, undergoes efflorescence only if the air is in contact with it is relatively dry...
